Chaka Khan
Chaka the Queen of Funk as she is also known is an American music producer. Over the course of her nearly fifty years of career she has won a total 10 Grammys. In addition, she was named as the 65th highest-performing dance artist of all time according to Billboard magazine. She was born in Chicago, Illinois and introduced to jazz early on in her stage by her maternal grandmother. The first step in her professional career was performing with different bands. Then, in the near future, she became a member of the band Rufus. In the year 2000 the singer released her first album together with the group. One year later they received their first Grammy. She released her self-titled debut album just a couple of years following her solo debut. In the following years, she released other albums such as "Echoes from an Era", "The Woman I Am" and a song called "Funk It". Alongside her music contribution, her charity work has earned her plenty of attention. Chaka Khan Foundation was established to support children living in poverty families and people with autism. Khan has also been a protracted actress. She portrayed Sister Carrie in the role of lead in the musical "Mama, I'm Wanting to Sing'.
